As I’m motoring around the city of a day, I like to listen to Talksport. I had never really heard it before, but in the early days when I was training the boss used to insist it was on in the car and I got to really quite like it. Today, though, there was an interview with a Guardian journalist who was also a QPR fan. The catalyst was obviously the sacking of Warnock and the appointment of Hughes – but the insight he gave into Lambert and Warnock was fascinating and worth repeating here I think.
The journalist (I forget his name) had been sitting near the dugouts during the Norwich game at Loftus road, and it was just after the sending off of Barton. Lambert made a tactical change and Clint Hill, the QPR player, apparently came over to Warnock and was yelling at him t0 change things. He was apparently screaming that Norwich had changed formation and the QPR players were struggling. Hill yelled at Warnock what needed changing but he didn’t do anything – and within a few minutes Norwich had scored.
The journalist pointed out that Lambert had won both games against QPR with a tactical change which was superb and swung the match in Norwich’s favour – and it was further mentioned that this is why Norwich are doing so well.
So, Norwich fans this is just further confirmation that we have a potential genius (I really do believe that) managing our club right now – a man who could go on and be a true giant of the sport. Let’s just hope he stays up and Norwich keep hold of him. I genuinely believe that with him Norwich are capable of being a new Fulham – rock solid mid-table premiership stability at MINIMUM.
Without him? Well, I fear the consequences of that would be too dire to contemplate.
