inally, after struggling for most of the Christmas period, we got round to watching the second part of this special Sky movie. Samuel (who wasn’t interested in watching the second part) took himself off to bed, and myself, Marie and Joseph took the opportunity to watch it.
We all cuddled up on the sofa and started the film off. Sadly, I had been struggling with flu all day and things were getting worse so about 10pm (54 minutes in) I took myself off to bed to avoid giving any of my flu to Joseph. I caught up with the final half hour the next day after Marie had taken the boys to their grandparents.
I must say the second half moved a lot quicker than the first – with much more action and special effects. sadly, though, this was more of a downfall as the effects were quite simply terrible – to the extent that they managed to take the viewer out of the movie. It also set itself up terribly for a sequel – one which (judging by the quality of this one) is very unlikely to materialise. The quality of the acting, which hadn’t seemed quite so poor in the first half, was also atrocious here. On the brightside, the story was still quite inventive and it certainly kept all parties entertained for the entire 90 minute running time (3 hours if you take into account both parts).
So basically, it passed the time well – but it really could (and should) have been so much more……
