piano man legacy

Another much desired for christmas gift was this, Billy Joel : Piano Man (Legacy Edition).  This is the second one of his albums to be released as a Legacy edition after The Stranger.  And like that album, it features a live concert on the second disc although this one is a real curiosity.  It is a concert that was recorded especially for radio and was made before Piano Man was even released.  Thus the concert features about half songs from Piano Man and half from his first album Cold Spring Harbour.

Even more notable, though, is that it contains two songs that have never before been heard and that were never recorded in the studio.  I have listened to the disc several times now and it really is amazing.  I need to listen to it a few more times before writing a full review – but it will be the first CD review on this site.

A full review of Billy Joel’s The Piano Man (Legacy Edition) will appear soon.
